How to apply for a business master’s in the UK

A UK business master’s is a document queue with a deadline. Some programmes ask for a quantitative test. Some do not. The programme page is the list, not a general rule about the GMAT.

Read the test line before you pay for another test

Open the programme page and find the English floor and any admissions test. If the page names IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE, compare your section scores, not only the overall. Half a band in writing is a common miss. If the page names GMAT, GRE, or no quantitative test, believe that page. Do not sit a GMAT because a forum said every business master’s wants one, and do not skip one the page requires. Paste the English floor you found into the matchmaker.

The statement is about a choice

Name the pathway, the module, or the lab you actually looked up. Then name one piece of your own work, a placement, a family business role, or a project, with dates. A draft that only says you have always been passionate about business will score poorly on evidence, and it should. The grader will not invent a management role to make you sound stronger. The language note is not an IELTS band.

Referees need the deadline in the email and a week that is not the week you submit. Tell them the programme name. A reference that arrives after the round is not a reference.

Money, in the order the visa reads it

The course fee is the number on the offer or the CAS. Living money for the Student visa is the GOV.UK maintenance figure: a London amount and an outside-London amount, up to nine months, held for 28 days, with the end of that period inside 31 days of the application. The cost calculator adds those published figures to the fee you type. The immigration health surcharge and the visa fee are extra charges inside the visa application. Check GOV.UK again before you move the money. A tuition scholarship that does not mention maintenance has not paid the maintenance line.

Six weeks, one complete file

Week 1: the intake date and the programmes whose English floor you can meet. Week 2: transcripts. Week 3: the statement. Week 4: funding documents in the name the guide allows. Week 5: referee requests. Week 6: submit one application. You can do this without an agent. If you pay one, keep the university emails in your inbox and ask which step is theirs.

A conditional offer still needs the condition done before most CAS letters are issued. The offer date and the visa decision date are different. Use the readiness checklist for the document list. It is PrepRoadRunner’s weighting, not the Home Office’s.
