Study in the UK without an agent
UK universities take applications themselves. An agent is optional. The CAS, the Student visa, and the maintenance money are steps with official pages, and those pages are the ones that count.
Apply where the university tells you to apply
Undergraduate applications often go through UCAS. Master’s applications often go through the university’s own portal. Either way, the account should use your email. The offer, the conditions, and later the CAS are documents you need in your inbox, not in a company’s inbox. If you hire help, ask them to use your address and to show you the draft before it is submitted.
You do not need an agent to upload a transcript, to write a statement, or to pay an application fee. The fee is small until you multiply it by unfinished applications. Finish one file first. The matchmaker compares your GPA and English score with the floor you paste from that programme. It will not invent a UK-wide band, because departments print their own.
The money the visa file asks about
GOV.UK publishes a monthly maintenance amount for Student visa applicants: one figure for London and one for outside London, for up to nine months, held for 28 days. The cost calculator uses those published figures and the course fee you copy from the CAS or the programme page. The visa application fee and the immigration health surcharge are charged in the application itself. They are not inside the maintenance number. Open the GOV.UK page again before you transfer money, because the amounts are updated in the Immigration Rules.
A scholarship that pays tuition and ignores the maintenance line still leaves a gap. Read the award letter for what it pays. Put the cautious total in the funding document, not the tuition line alone.
The statement and the conditions
A UK personal statement or master’s statement fails when it praises the country and never names a module. Name one module you opened on the programme page and one piece of your own work that connects. Delete the childhood sentence. The SOP grader scores that draft and refuses to add a job you did not write. The language note is not an IELTS band.
A conditional offer is a yes with homework. The CAS usually waits until the condition is met. Book the test or the deposit the condition names, and do not treat the offer date as the visa decision date. If you have a previous refusal, declare it and write what changed. What to do this week
Pick the intake. Paste one programme’s English floor and first-year cost into the tools. If the gap is half a band, put the university deadline into the study-time calculator before you book the test. If the gap is money, send your family the calculator total rather than a voice note. If you still want an agent after that, you will know which step you are paying them to do.
